Slaget på Fælleden

history in the attic

The attic of the Banquet Hall, just under the roof, is a noteworthy space that you should not miss. Here you can experience the light-and-sound exhibition The Battle of the Commons -a story about the origin of the labour movement.

Text, lights, and images emerge on the floor and walls of the attic and tell a vivid story about the early beginnings of the labour movement and the Battle of the Commons in 1872, up to the construction of the Assembly Hall in 1879.

Meet Pio and Crone

You can also meet Louis Pio, the founder of the Danish labour movement, and his fierce opponent, Chief Constable Crone, who fought the rise of socialism by any means necessary.

You can hear whisperings about his observations from workers’ meetings, and you can stand on the grass fields of Nørre Fælled and sense the fierce battles around you.

Please note that we may cancel screenings when we have events in the Banquet Hall and meeting room Pio downstairs.
