Afternoon lecture

Join us for an afternoon lecture on the book Travle tider – På arbejde i 1930’erne with historian and author Søren Hein Rasmussen. The talk will be followed by a conversation with Margit Bech Vilstrup, curator of the Workers’ Museum collection.

What was working life like in the 1930s – for the machine worker, the domestic helper and the farmer? Such scenes are rarely found in old photo archives, but press photographer Aage Fredslund Andersen captured everyday working life with his camera. His images provide a rare and intimate insight into a time when the modern welfare society and mechanized production were taking shape and everyone had to “keep up”.

The treasury of the labor movement

Since 1909, the Labor Museum Library and Archive has collected unique material from political, professional and cultural environments associated with the labor movement and the political left – a treasure trove that continues to inspire new stories.

At the literature afternoon, we dive into the fiction and non-fiction works that have their roots in the Labor Movement Library and Archive. Literature that reminds us of the opportunity to explore the many stories hidden in over 12 shelf kilometers of archive material.
