The Big Wash Day

A lively and humorous experience where children can step into the shoes of the brave working-class kids of the past and discover courtyard life with laundry day, garbage, outhouses, and rats. Best of all, you’re allowed to touch and play with everything.
Traditional Singing Games

Join us as we sing and play Danish, traditional children’s games. We’ll sing Tag den ring og lad den vandre. (We form a circle, and passes a ring around). And the song game Jeg gik mig over sø og land. It’s great fun, and everyone can join in even if it’s in Danish!

Use your body as you skip rope, roll hoops, walk on stilts, and hop through the courtyard just like working-class children did in the old days – without a single screen in sight. Or dress up in circus costumes and become a performer in our acclaimed special exhibition, Leif Sylvester – Flying Free

Enjoy a relaxed summer atmosphere for the whole family in the Assembly Hall. Write a postcard to your best friend, play “Sorteper”, try the Falcon’s challenges, and, of course, enjoy a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade.

Explore together with the children: Here, they can dress up, try their hand at being a messenger boy, work at the bottle factory, attend dance school, shop at the local grocer’s, and cook meals in the small apartment.

The museum’s café is a charming step back into the 1950s. Fru Hansen’s Café serves a true Danish working-class classic: meatballs with potato salad, followed by rødgrød med fløde – a dessert that captures the taste of a Danish summer.
